COLUMBIA MISSOURIAN
Writing | Reporting | Pitching Stories
In 2004, I was a reporter for the Columbian Missourian (39,000-circulation daily newspaper) for four months. I covered a wide range of topics on a weekly basis, including:
The Song of Generations: a feature story about a local bagpipe band.
Hell and Back: a human-interest story about homeless veterans.
A continuing series in about the demolition of a historic railroad bridge. The fight eventually ended up in court in 2010, where proponents of the bridge prevailed over Union Pacific Rail. In 2013, plans were in the works to transform the bridge into a centerpiece of the Katy Trail.
Memories of a Railroad Resonate
More Time Sought to Save Bridge
For Some, It's a Gift to Share: a human-interest story about volunteer services during the holiday.
Car Crashes Through Gas Station: scene-of-the-accident reporting and writing.
